NORA’s Outdoor Recreation division is all about helping kids and families discover, explore, and enjoy the natural spaces in our community. Our mission is to make the outdoors accessible, engaging, and fun for all ages. To give kids a taste of outdoor recreation, we offer Outdoor Recreation Explorers programs throughout the year. Typically these camps take place over just a few days during or just before school breaks where we try different experiences each day to see all that our area has to offer. Our goal is to keep these programs low cost and provide as much equipment as possible so the focus can be on fun and trying something new.
Have a break from school mid-week? Awesome! Let's play outside! We will spend the day riding trails and geocaching at Hofma Preserve/Hofma Park then we will head over to North Ottawa Rod & Gun Club for some archery. We will stop halfway at the Hofma Preserve Picnic Shelter to eat lunch and we will take plenty of breaks as needed. Program will meet rain or shine (severe weather will cancel but we can bike & do archery in a little sprinkle of a rain).Your child will be telling you all about these activities and will go back to school on Thursday with a pep in their step with their new outdoor recreation expertise! This camp is great for kids in 2nd - 9th grade. Older kids are welcome but they have to be willing to keep pace with the younger kids. Drop off will be at Hofma Preserve (168th Ave Parking Lot) and pick up will be at North Ottawa Rod & Gun Club. Archery equipment provided, bring your own bike, helmet, water, lunch and snacks. If you need a bike to borrow for the day, reach out to Ms Jackie ahead of time to arrange.
