NORA’s Outdoor Recreation division is all about helping kids and families discover, explore, and enjoy the natural spaces in our community. Our mission is to make the outdoors accessible, engaging, and fun for all ages. To give kids a taste of outdoor recreation, we offer Outdoor Recreation Explorers programs throughout the year. Typically these camps take place over just a few days during or just before school breaks where we try different experiences each day to see all that our area has to offer. Our goal is to keep these programs low cost and provide as much equipment as possible so the focus can be on fun and trying something new.
Port Sheldon is just a short drive from Grand Haven but has some of the most scenic beautiful parks and natural areas in all of West Michigan. We are excited to take advantage of these spaces to end summer on a high note with our Outdoor Recreation Explorers Camp. Meeting Monday - Thursday from 10am - 11:30am, kids will spend time trying archery, hiking, geocaching, fishing and kayaking. We make things easy by bringing the equipment for all activities so all you have to do is bring a snack and a water bottle! Your child will be telling you all about these activities and will go back to school with a pep in their step with their new outdoor recreation expertise! This camp is great for kids entering 2nd - 10th grade. Older kids are welcome but they have to be willing to keep pace with the younger kids.
