Youth Basketball

NORA offers basketball clinics year round and recreational after school basketball leagues for 4th - 6th graders during the school year. We offer after school girls basketball in the Fall (October - December) and after school boys' basketball in the Winter (January - March). Look for registrations for these programs approximately 1 month prior to start dates. Volunteer coaches are always welcome for these programs and essential for their success.

Youth Basketball Clinic (K-4th Grade) - Fall

K-4th Youth Basketball Clinics - Fall 2026

Get ready to dribble, pass, shoot, and have some fun! Brothers Coach Micah and Coach Eli Castaneda-Kelley are bringing their love of basketball to the gym for a four-week elementary basketball clinic. As current Grand Haven High School JV and Varsity basketball players, they’ll share their experience while helping young athletes build fundamental skills and confidence on the court. The clinic is open to all skill levels and will include age-appropriate drills, games, and plenty of time to play. Whether your child is picking up a basketball for the first time or already loves the game, they’ll have an opportunity to learn, improve, and have fun! 

K–2nd Grade: 9:00–9:45am 

3rd–4th Grade: 10:00–10:45am 

Location: Lake Hills Elementary School Gym

Girls Basketball (4th Grade) - Fall

4th Grade Girls Basketball League - Fall 2026

Join us for this fun after school youth basketball league and play fun games against 4th grade girls from other Grand Haven Area Schools.

Practices will be held after school once or twice a week (schedule communicated by team coaches)

Games are on Wednesday evenings (October 28, November 4, 11, 18, December 2, 9) at either 5:30 PM or 6:30PM at White Pines Intermediate School. The season will wrap up with a fun tournament on Saturday, December 12 at White Pines Intermediate School (Time TBD)

Registration includes a team jersey.

5th & 6th Grade Girls Basketball - Fall 2026 

Join us for this fun after-school house league. All skill levels welcome as we develop foundational basketball skills as well as leadership and teamwork together. 

All practices will be held at White Pines after school from 4:00pm-5:30pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays. 

All games will also be held on Tuesdays/Thursdays at White Pines with a short team warm up and then games will begin at 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Spectators welcome for games but practices are closed to spectators.

After School Basketball Clinics with Basketball Basics

NORA is teaming up with Basketball Basics to bring you another round of action-packed after school basketball clinics — and we’re thrilled to announce that former NBA player Ben Poquette will be coaching again! 

Ben Poquette was a 1st Team All-MAC selection (1977) and a Central Michigan University Hall of Famer. After college, he went on to play 10 seasons in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons, Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Chicago Bulls. Your young athletes will be learning from someone who has competed at the highest level! 

*Jim McGannon (Founder of Basketball Basics) will be coaching the Friday session at Ferry. Coach McGannon has trained many high level athletes and played D1 basketball at Dartmouth*

Who Can Join? These clinics are open to all K–4th grade students. Participants do NOT need to attend the school they register for — they just need to be able to get to that school on time after dismissal.

4th Grade Boys Basketball League - Winter 2027
Join us for this fun after school youth basketball league and play fun games against 4th grade boys from other Grand Haven Area Schools.
