Family Geocaching 101 - Fall 2025
Let's get outdoors together as a family!
This all-ages special event brings your family together to learn about Geocaching and get out exploring in some beautiful parks in Grand Haven.
What is geocaching? It's a global treasure hunt and a way to explore the outdoors with kids especially and give purpose to your walks, hikes and park trips.
Join us on Saturday, November 1 from 1-3pm at Hofma Preserve.
We will start in the picnic shelter with a quick introduction to geocaching with Ms Jackie Rowland - NORA Outdoor Recreation Coordinator. We will talk about geocaching and how to get into it. We will open our geocaching apps together and talk about what we're looking for. Then families will be sent out to find geocaches. This giant park-wide scavenger hunt will lead you on and off of trails but most geocaches are easily accessible and won't require tree climbing or serious bushwhacking.
Wear comfortable clothes and good shoes for walking. Each family should have at least 1 phone with the geocaching app downloaded and you decide which caches/how many you go after in the park this day. You will decide when you have seen enough or if you want to keep going and find more caches beyond Hofma Preserve.
Registration Note - This is a family event - you only need to register 1 person per family and the rest of the family can join.
