Summer Youth Fishing Camp - Summer I 2026
Join Mr. Nolan on an epic adventure where the fish are ginormous and the struggle to reel them in is real!
We don't mind fish stories in this camp!
Camp will meet M-Th with some variety in locations.
Monday & Tuesday we will be at Pottawattomie Park fishing from the docks and the shore.
Wednesday, we will change up our scenery and fish from the docks and the fishing pier at East End Park.
Thursday is the exciting day - we will be fishing from canoes launched from Lakeshore Kayak Rental. Kids will be in groups of 2 or 3 in the canoes hoping to catch the big ones in Lloyd's Bayou in Spring Lake.
Bait will be provided each day, fishing poles and gear provided to anyone who needs it but kids are welcome to bring their own if they wish. Mr. Nolan will show kids how to use live bait and bait their own hooks (with supervision and practice), they'll get tips on casting and they'll learn about the different species of fish they can expect to find in Michigan bodies of water.
Registration includes cost of canoe rental at Lakeshore Kayak Rental so there are no additional charges after registration.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What should I wear?:
First - sunscreen! Wear comfortable clothing for being outdoors. Sandals with closed toes or crocs are fine for this as we might have to step into the water to get a fish or free a line. Hats are encouraged and if you'd like to wear a swimsuit or clothes that can get wet, you may. We are not swimming but again, stepping into the water to get a fish or free a line can mean getting a little wet.- What should I bring?:
If you have your own fishing pole, tackle box, etc. you may bring that. We will have extra poles, extra tackle and we will provide worms each day as well. If you don't have your own pole but you enjoy this camp and want to keep fishing, you may keep the pole you borrowed for the week, we have lots that were donated! You can also bring a backpack with a water bottle and a snack.- What if it rains?:
We will fish in light rain, never in a heavy downpour or a thunderstorm. In case of storms, we will cancel class and try to make it up on Friday.
